C8Kids™ - Mission: Cognition

Early Assessment, Brain Development, and Achievement

Based on 15 years of research at Yale University, C8Kids helps teachers exercise the minds of their students in an innovative and stimulating way. Our computer and physical exercises motivate children to strengthen their brains in much the same way athletes strengthen their muscles - through cross-training.

How C8Kids Works

C8Kids is a multiple-session modular program administered over several weeks.

Each session consists of computer games scientifically designed to develop a child’s cognitive abilities and physical exercises that stimulate the same neural networks as the computer games.

In addition, the initial sessions and the final series include integrated standard tests of cognitive ability recommended by the National Institutes of Health for children of this age.  We are the first to develop online integrated versions of these NIH “Toolkit” tests.

C8Kids is delivered in Phases, and each Phase provides valuable results for teachers and school administrators:

PhaseSessionsResults Delivered

Initial Assessment

Sessions 1 - 8
(typically 2-3 weeks)

Integrated NIH assessments provide initial insight into basic cognitive abilities of students

Student Performance

Sessions 9 - 14
(typically 2 weeks)

Early computer game performance reveals students with special gifts and special cognition needs that may not be apparent from conventional school tests

Cognition Profiles

Sessions 15 - 24
(typically 3 weeks)

Individualized profiles of the students' 8 Core Cognitive Capacities – “the foundations of learning”

Brain Training I

Sessions 25 - 36
(typically 4 weeks)

Measurable & lasting cognition gains emerge for most students. Second NIH test battery provides independent measure of progress.

Brain Training II

Sessions 37 - 72
(additional 9-12 weeks)

Second term of daily individualized progress measures, particularly valuable for underperforming students.  Third NIH battery at Session 54, final NIH & C8 measures at Session 72.

Our Teacher Portal provides teachers and administrators with tools to track the progress of each student and the entire class.  Key elements of the Teacher Portal are:

  • daily progress reports for teachers and school administrators, providing detailed metrics of individual and group performance in the 8 Core Cognitive Capacities
  • a knowledge base of professional development tools and program instructions to prepare and aid teachers in administering the program and utilizing the results
  • easy access to live client support to answer questions and help you with implementation

Setting Up C8Kids in Your School
