Students in C8Kids Double Working Memory, Improve Test Scores

School leaders in Bristol, Connecticut are willing to test new and innovative ideas in their quest to give all students a solid foundation in the skills they need to be successful in school.   When they learned of the opportunity to pilot C8Kids, a new program designed to improve cognition in young children based on Yale University research, they were the first school in the U.S. to sign up.

C8 Sciences Program Riveting and “Cool” for Kids in New Haven Reads

New Haven Reads was founded out of one woman’s desire for more literacy in the city of New Haven, Connecticut. In 2001, Christine Alexander started by giving away free books and later added free after-school tutoring. Today, 300-plus New Haven Reads tutors work with over 400 kids during the school year.

In the four years Ethel Berger has been a tutor for New Haven Reads, she noticed that once the children she was working with understood the phonics piece of reading, they were still often left with comprehension issues.

C8 Sciences Founder, Bruce Wexler, Awarded $4 Million NIH Grant for ADHD Research

C8 Sciences founder and Yale professors Bruce E. Wexler, MD and James F. Leckman, MD have been awarded a $4 million grant to advance their research using an integrated brain, body and social intervention to treat ADHD and other attention deficit disorders. Their grant was one of this year's prestigious National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Awards given to support bold and innovative scientific ideas in Transformative Research that have the potential to create or overturn fundamental paradigms.
