The ACTIVATE™ At Home Pilot Program has successfully allowed thousands of families to try ACTIVATE™ in their homes. This unique program is now closing as we continue to focus on development of the next generation of improvements to ACTIVATE™.

New registrations for home users will no longer be accepted after July 15, 2014.

How ACTIVATE™ Home Access Works:

1.

Improves Student Attention:

ACTIVATE™ Home Access is a sophisticated brain cross training program developed by Yale neuroscientists that combines computer and physical exercises. It activates and helps strengthen the brain systems important for executive functions.

ACTIVATE™ is a content-independent brain-based cognitive training system that directly strengthens key systems in the brain that contribute to student attention.

When a student appears to have attention deficit, often the real culprit is an underlying cognitive weakness. The program has been designed to find, measure and improve these specific cognitive functions, which we call the Eight Core Cognitive Capacities (the “C8”).

Most video games for kids actually weaken their ability to sustain attention – while our games strengthen the child’s own ability to sustain their attention. Although we start out with dynamic short games and lots of visual and auditory feedback – as the student progresses, those game elements fade away, until eventually the child can focus on long work sessions with very little additional stimulation.

Physical exercises are incorporated into the program as well. The ACTIVATE™ Physical Exercise Program has been scientifically designed to increase neuroplasticity and exercise the same cognitive skills as the computer program.

In repeated case studies, students who have used ACTIVATE™ have shown measurable improvements in sustained attention and self-control, as measured by the National Institutes of Health’s Cognitive Toolbox tests.

Enhances Student Achievement:

ACTIVATE™ Home Access helps improve attention, memory, self-regulation and cognitive flexibility to increase student achievement inside and outside of the classroom.

Academic success depends on student cognition. ACTIVATE™ measures and improves the core cognitive capacities that are the foundation for academic achievement.

Research by neuroscientists has repeatedly shown the connection between student cognition and academics – and the importance of early cognitive intervention to improve student outcomes:

~  Executive functioning may be a better predictor than IQ of school readiness and academic achievement (e.g., Blair & Razza, 2007; Eigsti, et al., 2006).

~  Teachers report that the most important determinant of classroom success in kindergarten and early grades is the extent to which children can sit still, pay attention, and follow rules (e.g., McClelland et al, 2007).

~  Working memory development has a tremendous impact on children’s cognition as it is associated with academic achievement, including mathematic skills and reading skills (e.g., Bull & Scerif, 2001; Nevo & Breznitz, 2011).

~  Low working memory capacity puts children at risk for poor academic progress (Alloway & Gathercole, 2006; Alloway et al, 2009).

~  Working memory capacity can be effectively improved through intervention programs during childhood (Holmes, Gathercole, & Dunning, 2009; Thorell, et al, 2009).

Drug Free Help for ADHD:

ACTIVATE™ Home Access is a powerful tool for helping children suffering from cognitive deficits such as ADHD and autism. It is also a drug-free supplement in treating these disorders.

ACTIVATE™ is a content-independent brain-based cognitive training system that directly strengthens key systems in the brain that contribute to student attention.

In general, ADHD drugs treat symptoms of attention deficit, without addressing the underlying neurological causes. This may explain why a slew of recent studies have cast doubt on the effectiveness of treating ADHD with drugs alone.

When a student appears to have attention deficit, often the real culprit is an underlying cognitive weakness. ACTIVATE™ has been designed to find, measure and improve these specific cognitive functions, which we call the Eight Core Cognitive Capacities (the “C8”).

In repeated case studies, students who have used ACTIVATE™ have shown measurable improvements in sustained attention and self-control, as measured by the National Institutes of Health’s Cognitive Toolbox tests.

Note: If your child is receiving services in connection with a diagnosis of ADHD or another cognitive disorder, we recommend you consult with your physician to make C8Kids part of a comprehensive treatment plan. We provide resources to healthcare providers working with families who use C8Kids.

“Truly unheard of! Some of the things I noticed about these students was that they were more focused, more persistent, and improved academically.”
Grace Ogilvie, Assistant Principal, NYC
“The report provides us with some very valuable information concerning our son and the deficiencies from which he suffers.”

“I’ve never seen that [many students reading on grade level], and I’ve been here for quite some time. I see a big difference.  They absolutely loved it, they were very proud. And I was like… wow!”
Donna McKie, 1st Grade Teacher
“[ACTIVATE™] stands out for being easily the most sophisticated brain training program ever attempted with ADHD (or any other cognitive disorder)…If any computerized program could work, this one should.”
Independent Reviewer, National Institutes of Health
“Our kids enjoy this and look forward to it every day. They are showing me that they are dedicated to this and that they are getting something from it… I know it. I feel it.”
Mike Lorenzo, Connecticut PTA Principal of the Year
